-Mommy, what should I blog about?
-Hmmm, let’s see. How about our recent trip to Dubai? The beach, the crazy shopping malls?
The princess screwed up her face. “Nooooo… I don’t think so…”
-OK- how about visiting London, and your uncle? That was pretty cool, wasn’t it?
-mmmm…I dunno… it’s not something I wanna blog about though…
-well, about visiting all these relatives? Great-grandmother, cousins, more cousins…
-Oh! I know!
-How I’m reading “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe”, and you and aunt keep calling it “Lion King”, and it’s driving me INSANE!!! I hate it when you do that! It’s “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe”, NOT THE LION KING!!!! OK????!!!”
And she begins banging out an angry blog post about HOW SHE HATES IT WHEN WE CALL THAT BOOK “LION KING”.
The blog-hook. The spark. You can travel all around the world, visit people to the nth degree, do all sorts of “cool” things, but in the end, it’s that particular spark which lights your bloggy imagination, becomes the hook on which you hang your blog coat. You can’t predict what it will be or where it will come from, but suddenly it is there: a conversation, a film, a recollection, a memory, an impression.
The bloggy imagination. How to capture the intense moments of life.
