Do I really want my daughter to grow up like a Hollywood starlet? asks one commentator.
Well, ideally I would like my daughter to become a brain surgeon-neurologist, while winning the Nobel Prize in Literature (or may be Peace??) with her spare time activitie, while also appearing on the cover of Vogue at least four times in recognition of her astounding beauty. Meanwhile, I would like her to have a wonderful rich sweet husband who also adores me and does not attempt to prevent limitless socialization between us, and two or three lovely funny not-too-noisy, not-too-attention-seeking children. And because I cannot bear to think of my daughter going through the pain and s*** of preganancy and childbirth, I suppose that I want these wonderful children to be born in some miraculous manner which will leave my daughter’s body unharmed and unhurt.
However, I suppose that this is not very real.
I want my daughter to be happy. The best I can do for her now is to give her some warm childhood memories (which does not include me crying because I haven’t got my student loan / insurance / other government stuff – recently my daughter discovered that I am almost always miserable and upset about something), a good education with which she can choose to do whatever career she wants, medical attention when she needs it, and, if I’m very good, a love of good books. If she then decides she wants to act stupidly when she’s an adult, well, how much can that be my fault?
Actually, to tell you the truth, I am rather fond of Beyonce, and I think it is unfair to mention her in one line with Britney. (Yes! Another facet of my corrupted Westernized personality hitherto hidden from my readers). And if somebody as famous and as rich as Beyonce still wears dresses designed by her mother, well, I think that can’t be all bad.

Madonna is AWFUL! When is she going to retire and spare the world the sight of her horrible fuschia and pink leggings and leotards and shaved inner thighs? And that dreadful old-young face which looks like a Dracula Queen- those who never die but keep young by drinking the blood of murdered innocents….
